Participate in Shaping the Future of a Greener Environment and Communities -DG NGGW charge stakeholders

The Director General of the great Green Wall Dr Yusuf Maina Bukar has implored indigenous stakeholders to actively participate in shaping the future of a greener environment and communities with aim of promoting community development, biodiversity conservation, and resilience against climate change.
Dr Yusuf Maina Bukar stated this while declaring open Stakeholders Forum Northeast with the theme Building Multi Stakeholders Responsiveness in the implementation of the Great Green Wall Program in Nigeria Held in Kano.
Represented by the Director,Resource Mobilization & Partnership Building (RMPB) Alh. Safiyanu Ahmed Yavala said the National Agency for the great Green Wall has the core mandates to combat land degradation, desertification and improve the resilience of affected communities to the impact of climate change.
“The theme of today’s event reflects our commitment to fostering synergy and scaling-up activities within our multi-level sectors and indigenous stakeholders”
The Director General noted that the vision of the Great Green Wall is to create a sustainable and productive landscape that not only restores degraded lands but also promotes community development, biodiversity conservation, and resilience against climate change.
He noted that Over the last few decades, the encroachment of the deserts has had a devastating impact on our communities, threatening the livelihoods of millions and exacerbating existing conflicts.
“The implementation of the Great Green Wall is critical in countering the effects of desertification, protecting our natural resources, and securing a brighter future for generations to come.”
” I implore our indigenous stakeholders to actively participate in shaping the future of a greener environment and communities. Your voices and perspectives are of utmost importance as we seek to implement programs that are not only effective but also responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.”
In her welcome address the Director, Planing Policy & Coordination, Mrs. Habiba Lau Ibrahin said the event was critical for the agency in the life span of it’s activities across the nation.
In their separate remarks the Gombe State Commissioner of Environment Muhammad Fawo and Resources Person Dr Nura Sani from Federal University Dutse Commended the agency for the giant stride and urge to sustain the tempo.
The event was graced by officials of the Agency, CSOs, NGOs, Miyetti Allah Association and other stakeholders.
