About 2,000 vulnerable women in Yobe State are set to benefit from food items provided by the Wife of the Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Speaking at the distribution programme in Damaturu, the wife of the Yobe State Governor, and Coordinator of the initiative in the state, Hafsat Buni Kolere, represented by the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Dr Mairo Amshi, said the intervention targets vulnerable people, particularly women, to ease their economic hardship.
She noted that the Nigeria First Lady remains committed to the welfare of Nigerians, especially women and other vulnerable groups, and ensured that the palliatives reached beneficiaries without delay through the support of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
Hafsat Kolere also acknowledged the challenges faced by women in the state, particularly the effects of past insurgency which has largely impacted women and children.
In her remarks, the Yobe State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Yajalo Badama, described the distribution as a demonstration of compassion and commitment to improving the livelihoods of women and their families.
She expressed appreciation to the First Lady and partners for supporting the programme, noting that the gesture would provide relief to many households across the state.
One of the beneficiaries, Hauwa Haladu, commended the Federal and Yobe State Governments for the intervention, saying the support would positively impact their lives, especially during the current economic challenges.
The programme forms part of efforts under the Renewed Hope Initiative to support vulnerable communities and strengthen household welfare across the country.
