FPTB Commits to Improve Students’ Welfare

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi says it’s decision to engage private developers to provide hostel accommodation through “Build to Operate Transfer Partnership” is to ensure improvement in students’ welfare.

The Rector of the polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman who stated this at the institution’s 2026 Matriculation ceremony, said expansion and modernisation of hostel facilities is ongoing in the campus

This according to Alhaji Sani Usman, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Dalhatu Sa’idu Abubakar was aimed at providing safe, comfortable and conducive accommodation for students.

The Rector said as part of efforts to strengthen security in the campus towards ensuring a safe and seren learning environment, the institution’s perimeter fencing was nearing completion.

He noted the accreditation of about seventy eight academic programmes at National and Higher National Diplomas by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE.

These developments, according to him, underscored the commitment of the polytechnic on high academic standard for national and international competitiveness.

He therefore informed that to curb examination malpractice and uphold the integrity of assessment processes, the polytechnic has installed CCTV cameras in most of its examination halls.

The Rector, urged the newly matriculated students to avoid anything that could hamper their academic pursuit.

Alhaji Usman also urged the matriculants to pursue their interests, legally interact with their peers, participate in extra-curricular activities and contribute meaningfully to the evelopment of the polytechnic.

Isma’il Idris Abubakar, a National Diploma Civil Engineering, student said he is well prepared to face his studies with all seriousness and optimistic that he would make first class grade.

Saminu Hussaini from Mass Communication Department, expressed commitment to concentrate fully on his studies, pledging to shun any form of vices that may hinder his success in the institution.

Other students interviewed, Adam Muhammad, Innocent Loveth and Binta Adamu appreciated the management of the polytechnic for finding them worthy for admission out of the numerous applicants in the current academic session and assured to dedicate themselves to their studies.

Over five thousand nine hundred students from different departments were matriculated for the 2026 academic session, with the Matriculation Oath administered by a legal practitioner, Mr Umar Wunti.
