Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded significant successes in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States, leading to the arrest of suspected terrorist collaborators, recovery of weapons and disruption of logistics networks supporting insurgent activities.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops, working alongside Forest Guards, arrested a suspected logistics supplier, Girema Aliko, at Benisheikh Market while attempting to transport 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit allegedly meant for terrorist elements. Another suspect, Mohammed Bulama, was also apprehended in Maiduguri for allegedly serving as an informant and logistics supplier.
The statement further revealed that troops arrested an absconded soldier, Private Umar Bema, who allegedly deserted his unit with his service rifle. Preliminary investigations linked him to criminal activities, including robbery, during his absence.
His weapons and magazines have since been recovered, while he remains in custody for further investigation.
In separate operations, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper in Biu Local Government Area and another logistics supplier in Gubio, who were reportedly transporting food items intended for insurgents.
In Adamawa State, troops and local hunters apprehended two suspected members of Islamic State West Africa Province who allegedly confessed to involvement in attacks and abductions across parts of Borno and Adamawa States.
The statement added that a fleeing insurgent surrendered with two children in Kukawa, while offensive operations in Damboa led to the recovery of rocket-propelled grenade bombs and PKT ammunition from deserted terrorist enclaves.
The Theatre Command said the operations have significantly weakened terrorist networks and reassured residents of its commitment to restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability across the North-East.
