Governor Inuwa Yahaya Releases N5.5 Billion For The Payment Of Gratuity To Retirees

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has flagged off the payment of another phase of Backlog of Gratuity to about four thousand State and Local Government Retirees.

Speaking during the presentation of cheques and payment of gratuity to retirees, the Governor disclosed that the sum of five point five billion naira has been released for the commencement of the payment.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya confirmed that in the last five years, his administration has cleared over seven billion naira of this backlog by providing much-needed relief and dignity to the retirees who have dedicated their lives towards the service of the state.

While urging the civil servants in the state to seize the opportunity to contribute positively to the transformation of the service, the Governor called on them to redouble their efforts and demonstrate unwavering commitment to excellence in service delivery.

Governor Yahaya confirmed that his administration has introduced wage grants to civil servants in demonstrating the proactive approach to mitigate the impact of economic reforms on civil servants.

The Governor equally said his administration has introduced the biometric attendance system in all the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies MDAs, to enhance productivity and accountability in the service.

According to him, this policy measure would not only promote transparency and efficiency but also foster a culture of discipline and responsibility among civil servants.

Earlier, the representative of Nigeria Union of Pensioners Gombe State Chapter, Mallam Garba Ismail thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for coming to their aid in this critical economic situation.

He assured the support of all retirees to policies and programmes of Governor Inuwa-led administration.
