Adamawa state Government has called on livestock farmers in the state to register with the State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES.

This call was made by the project coordinator of the program, Alpha Secondee during an interview with newsmen in Yola the Adamawa State Capital.

The Project Coordinator, Adamawa State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project L-PRES, Alfa Secondee said the project is targetted primarily at the livestock farmers across the state, hence the need for livestock producers across the value chain to register and benefit from the project .

Secondee explained that due to the credit line facility involved in the project which is aimed at boosting productivity, L-PRES offices were opened in all the local government areas with trained Management Information System officers, where an individual livestock farmer can just walk in with NIN, email address and register as the banks have now eased the whole process.

” the bank response to individual farmers directly , that is why we are making it clear to our farmers that once you are profiled the bank sends you a mail acknowledging that you are you have been profiled”

He equally frowned at the activities of fraudsters who move around collecting money from livestock farmers in the guise of registering them.

While calling on people to take full advantage of the project and by getting enrolled, the state coordinator urged them to report any body who attempts to defraud them to the relevant authorities.

“His Excellency the executive governor has brought this project free to all our farmers and we want as many farmers as possible in the state to benefit from the project “

He added that registration is free, and that letters to that effect have been sent to local government chairmen across the state.

Alfa Secondee further stated that the project has both direct and indirect benefits to livestock farmers in the state, looking at the various people involved in the livestock production value chain.

According to him, about ten thousand farmers’ cooperative groups have been registered and more would be enrolled now that the registration process has been eased and individual farmers can register.

The five years collaborative project between the state government and the world bank has so far desilted dams, dug boreholes and provided crushing machines in some local government areas and major livestock markets across the three senatorial zones in the state, with plans of immunizing livestock across the state for prevention against transborder diseases.
