First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu flags off Social Investment Programme for vulnerable persons.

The National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative and Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has assured of providing more palliatives to vulnerable groups to cushion the current hardship being faced in the country.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu gave the assurance during the official flagg off of the Social Investment Programme Food Outreach Scheme for Persons with Disabilities and the Vulnerable Groups at the Government House, Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital.

The First Lady, who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima noted that in addition to the one truck, the Hope Initiative under the Social Investment Programme is collaborating with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to provide fertilizer and other food items to families in vulnerable communities.

According to the First Lady, plans have been concluded to ensure one thousand women from each of the thirty six states of the federation benefit from fifty thousand naira grant with Nasarawa state as the pilot of the intervention.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for his support to the Renewed Hope Initiative, reiterating that the scheme which encompasses agricultural, educational and economic empowerment programmes is designed to provide support for underprivileged Nigerians.

Governor Abdullahi Sule who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe commended the First Lady for conceiving the initiative of providing succour to the underprivileged in the society, saying the gesture is complementing the Federal Government’s commitment at ensuring zero hunger in the country.

While noting that Nasarawa State has since taken a cue from the the federal government in distributing palliatives to the poorest of the poor to amieolarate the current hardship being faced by citizens, Dr. Akabe expressed optimism of an end in sight to the predicaments.

The Emir of Lafia, Retired Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed, the State APC Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Bello and wife of the State Deputy Governor, Sheila Tosan Akabe as well as the State only female lawmaker and Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim who stood in for the Speaker of the State Assembly among others.

They all attested to the First Lady’s commitment to addressing the plight of citizens.
