LG POLLS: women must be picked as Vice Chairmen- Gov Fintiri

Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has revealed his party’s intentions to pick women as vice chairmen in the forthcoming local government council elections in the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri revealed this during the Peoples Democratic Party’s stakeholders meeting which took place at the government house Yola.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri revealed that the PDP will pick women as vice chairman during the local government council elections scheduled for 13th of July, and in local government where a woman win primaries, she must pick a man as the vice chairman.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri reminded the Congress that this is yet another political circle hence the need to handle it with all sense of commitment devoid of any shady attitudes.

Fintiri called on the PDP stake holders to ensure free and fair primary elections particularly the councillorship positions, calling on contestants to accept the outcome of the primaries in good Faith.

The governor explained that women and youth must be recognized as they always support his administration from the first tenure up to now and they must be paid back as well.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Said his administration has done well to give the PDP the chance of winning, as he called on party members who have positions in the government to maintain their positions and give room for others too to occupy other positions.

While assuring that all positions belonged to the party, governor Fintiri added that the party will ensure fairness in giving it to its members.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Adamawa state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Barrister Ahmed Tahir Shehu stated that the PDP will go into the exercise with vigour as it has done during the governorship election.

Shehu called for aspiring candidates to accept the outcome of the primaries in good faith and come together to move ahead as a family as the party have no any anointed candidate.

While he announced the commencement of sales of forms for delegates, the party Chairman urged all stakeholders to remain in their wards and let the people in the grassroots to decide who they want as delegate adding that the composition of the three delegates should include a woman, youth and an elderly male person.
