Fombina FM Holds In-House Training to Enhance On-Air Delivery

In a bid to promote proficiency and professionalism among news and programme anchors, the management of Radio Nigeria Fombina FM, Yola has organized a one-day in-house training for its staff.

The training, which was well attended by news presenters and programme anchors, provided an opportunity for facilitators to engage participants on mastering the art of radio presentation, with emphasis on identifying fundamental skills and addressing common on-air lapses.

Declaring the event open, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Fombina FM, Alhaji Dahiru Garba Mohammed said the training became necessary to address noticeable shortcomings during presentations and to uphold the station’s reputation for excellence.

He urged all staff to strive for excellence and continuously adapt to the changing demands of modern broadcasting.

In her remarks, the Head of Programmes, Zainab Umar described the training as timely and impactful, considering the growing competition in the media space.

She encouraged presenters to take full advantage of the sessions to enhance their performance on-air.

The interactive training sessions featured the Head of Presentation, Amos Zira, who took participants through the fundamentals of effective radio presentation, stressing the importance of connecting with the audience and delivering with clarity and confidence.

Another facilitator, Gloria Abutu drilled participants on professional news presentation techniques, covering aspects such as proper pronunciation, voice control, diction, clarity, and avoiding common on-air mistakes.

The training also provided participants with practical exercises and real-time feedback to improve their delivery, articulation, and handling of live situations.

Participants were encouraged to apply the lessons learned, maintain high professional standards, and remain committed to continuous development in line with the station’s vision for excellence.
