The Federal Government has pledged its commitment to collaborate with the Yobe State Government in the area of road infrastructure development.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Hon. Adeyemi Abase Oseni, made the pledge in Damaturu, the capital city of Yobe, during the committee’s inspection visit on the federal roads in the state.
The Chairman of the House Committee on FERMA, who led the delegation, said the committee was in Yobe State on behalf of the Federal Government to assess the level of damage on federal roads in the North East subregion and make recommendations.
He further commended Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration for executing more developmental projects despite the security challenges faced by the state.
Responding, Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed appreciation for the committee’s visit, saying it came at the right time to see for themselves the level of devastation caused by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Governor Buni commended the delegation on its pledge to collaborate with the state in fixing its dilapidated federal roads.
He explained that addressing the road challenges would mitigate the persistent insecurity that has affected the Northeast subregion for over a decade.
The Governor further listed Bara-Gulani, Buni-Bara, Kaliyari-Bayamari, and Geidam-Maine Sorowa federal roads among those in need of rehabilitation.
He added that the collaboration is expected to boost economic development and improve the lives of residents in the State.
