Construction of Good Roads Should Be Given Due Consideration – Dahiru Tells FG

The Federal Government has been urged to give due consideration to constructions of good roads and ensure maintenance of same with a view to minimize accident cases across the country.

An Honorary Special Marshal, Alhaji Umaru Dahiru made the call at the 2023 Special Marshal Sectoral Workshop with the theme “Volunteerism In Road Safety Management: Limits and Possibilities” held in Bauchi.

The event was organized by the Special Marshal RS 12.1 of Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi Sector Command.

The occasion who is also a former Commissioner for Works in Bauchi state, Alhaji Umaru Dahiru said Nigeria has the capacity and resources to provide good roads of international standard, however frowned at the delapidated condition of interstate highways across the nation.

He argued that for the country to safeguard lives of its citizens plying the roads on daily basis, the situation need to be looked into with all sense of seriousness, responsibility and commitment.

In a keynote address, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Zone RS 12 Headquarters Bauchi, Assistant Corps Marshal Joel Dagwa said the responsibility of both the Regular and Special Marshals was to ensure safety and minimize crashes on the roads.

The National Coordinator, Dr John Ugbebor, represented by the Coordinator RS 12.1 Bauchi Sector Command, Magistrate Abdullahi Jumba said Special Marshals were selfless, dedicated individuals who were out to save lives and called on road users to cooperate with them to ensure safer roads.
