Gender Based Violence: ACReSAL Trains Bauchi Desk Officers

In Bauchi State, Gender Based Violence GBV Service Providers and Stakeholders across relevant areas have been trained on how to respond effectively to the Gender related cases.

The one-day capacity building exercise was organized by Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape ACReSAL, a World Bank Assisted Project in collaboration with the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development.

At the opening of the training in Bauchi, the State Project Coordinator Dr. Ibrahim Kabir said responding to cases related GBV is part of the components of the projects hence the move to organize the multi-sectoral engagement with a view to strengthening the capacity of the GBV Service Providers and Gender Desk Officers to be able to provide solution to the challenges.

Dr. Ibrahim Kabir who said ACReSAL has recognized the performance of Bauchi State in areas of effective implementation. explained that the project is beyond restoration of Land from degradation.

In a paper presentation, the Director Centre for Nonviolence and Gender Advocacy in Nigeria Obadia Samuel emphasized that addressing the problem required the contribution of all relevant stakeholders.

He called on the participants to take advantage of the training towards achieving the desired objectives.

The participants include Gender Desk Officers from implementing Local Government Areas, representatives of traditional and religious leaders, Security Agencies and the media.
