The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has supervised the distribution of one hundred and seventy five million naira cash assistance and food palliatives to over fifty thousand vulnerable residents in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.

During the distribution, over fifteen thousand male-head households received one bag of rice and one bag of maize grain each while 35,000 females received one wrapper and five thousand naira each.

Governor Zulum said the state has engaged in the distribution of palliative since May 2011 because of our peculiar situation of Borno.

Truckloads of food items set for distribution.

“We are here in Dikwa town of Dikwa Local Government Council to distribute food and non-food items to vulnerable persons.  I think for us, it’s a continuation”, the governor reiterated.

The Governor is targeting about 400,000 people in the current cycle of distribution with priority on communities affected by Boko Haram insurgency.

He has scaled up the distribution since the withdrawal of fuel subsidy in May 2023.

In addition, Zulum has provided free transport for farmers, 80 buses of metro transport scheme and distribution of two billion naira interest-free loans for workers through the Nigerian Labour Congress, all in an effort to cushion effects of fuel subsidy withdrawal.
