YEDC To Take Stringent Measures On Those Involved In Energy Theft.

Yola Electric Distribution Company YEDC, want it’s customers to expose those with the habit of energy theft in the society.

The General Manager YEDC Potiskum Business Unit, Adamu Kadai Abubakar, made this known in a special enlightenment program with Radio Nigeria Sunshine FM Potiskum, Yobe State. titled “Energy Theft”

He explained that energy Theft has a negative impact on the entire community, and the company itself, which according to him should not run at lost, instead of making profits.

Mr Abubakar called on the general public to report all cases of energy theft, electric equipments vandalisation and and illegal connections to avert the occurence of fire outbreak and electrocution.

He also called on all scavengers to avoid buying power generation cables from suspected persons, as the company is ready to challenges and prosecution anybody caught in the act.

“Yola Electric Distribution Company has a very good rappor with all scavengers, and in recent time have reported to us case of a man who stole some useful armored cables from one of our transformers, burn and cut them into pieces, he has been arrested and prosecuted* he added.

While outlining some of the new policies to be introduced which includes; Cashless and energy saving mode, Mr Abubakar explained that doors are always open for the power distribution company to accept complains, enquiries and clarifications, regarding the use of Prepaid Meters PPM and it’s economic benefits.

Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) is the distribution company responsible for the distribution of energy to Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, and Yobe states of Nigeria. Formally privatized in November 1, 2013 but was handed back to Government. It was formally taken over by Quest Electricity Nigeria Limited on 1st January 2022.
