The Kano state government says it has found series of anomalies on the last minutes recruitment conducted by the immediate past administration.

The secretary of the state government Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi diaclosed this while briefing the media on the report of the comittee on screening and verification of employment conducted by immediate past administration, held at the SSG’s office.

He said following the last minutes employment conducted by the Ganduje’s administration the incumbent government on assumption of office set a commitee to screen and ensure sanity in the entire process.

Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi explained among the anomalies found on the last minute recruitment by the commitee was employing a 13years old girl ,junior and secondary school students,tertiary institution students,non-indegines and serving corps members.

“Suprisingly graduates were employed as street sweepers while secondary school livers were being posted positions above their qualifications”

The secretary to the state government noted that after a thorough screening by the commitee ,recommendations were submitted to the government and the following decesions were taken

“The committee, in view of the number of those employed, broke into 3 panels to handle the screening of the 12,566 as against the 10,800 earlier report, In order to do justice and to ensure strong accountable mechanism in carrying out the assignment, it took the committee a period of two months to complete the exercise and submit its Report to Government.”

Based on these observations and having regard to the recommendation of the Technical Committee, His Excellency, the Governor owing to his concern and humane disposition has approved as follows:

  1. Reinstatement of a total of 9,332 staff that were found eligible by the committee;
  2. Those found with offers of appointment but not on the payroll,

should be subjected to further interview by relevant recruitment centres in the Service;

  1. Proper placement and posting/deployment of eligible staff to relevant MDAs for optimal utilization should be undertaken;
  2. In case of those employed into lower cadre without any regard to their qualifications they should be properly placed depending on need and availability of vacancy.

” Government decision that from the total number of 12,566 across the 51No. MDAs screened, 9,332 Staffs were found to be eligible and were therefore approved for employment into the Civil Service of the State with a financial implication of gross monthly salary of N507,200,464.03 through the making of supplementary budgetary provision in 2023 personnel budget.”
