World Bank to support Borno State in mitigating Climate Change.

The World Bank is to support Borno State to address erosions and Climate change.

Borno State Project Coordinator, Agro Climatic Resieliance in Semi Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) Ayuba Peter stated this while briefing Newsmen in Maiduguri.

Project Coordinator ACReSAL explained that the project was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Environment in 2022, to mitigate the impact Climate change and all other environmental related challenges across 19 northern States including Abuja, under Hybrid support mission to be funded by World Bank.

He said the project will be implemented within the range of six 6) years and that Borno State Government is entitled to about 30 million US dollars to implement the programmes which Governor Baba Gana Zulum have already approved 100 million naira as counterpart funding for the grant.

Mr Ayuba Peter added that Ngamdu in Kaga, Bayo and Uba were already earmarked for the interventions where the Project sites will be visited by Officials from the World Bank including Stakeholders from the side of the Borno State Government for inspection.

State Project Coordinator ACReSAL noted that the State Steering Committee for the implementation of the Programme have inaugurated which has Commissioner of Environment as Chairman, while his Counterpart from Water Resources and Agric serves as Co-Chair.

Earlier, the Borno State Project Coordinator ACReSAL, Mr Ayuba Peter briefed Officials from World Bank relevant Stakeholders including some representatives of Security agents about the preparedness and commitment towards the implementation of the projects at the United Nations hub Maiduguri.

They interacted and rub mind on the activities with the aim of identifying the grey areas and have forged ahead after the successful deliberations.
