IDPD: AHIP Advocates For End To Stigma and Exclusive

The executive director, adolescent health and information projects (AHIP), Hajiya Mairo Bello, has expressed concern over the stigma and exclusion, faced by people living with special needs.
She emphasized on the significance of recognizing and upholding the rights of every individual, regardless of their abilities.
The executive director, raised concern on violence against all individuals, girls, and minors,which is becoming rampant in the society.
Hajiya Mairo, emphasized the need to address social issues and explore collaborative solutions, saying that, AHIP is actively seeking ways to work together to tackle these challenges.
She urged people living with special needs (PWDs), to build resilience and embrace their own values and self-worth,saying that, utilizing one’s physical abilities and not succumbing to mental disabilities, promotes a message of support, for individuals facing various challenges.
Abba Bello Ahmad, raised question on investments to prevent violence against women,and advocated for the establishment of PWDs commission, to achieve the desired objectives.
In a similar development,Barrister Fatima Ahmad, presented a historical overview, citing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 1966.
She stressed the importance of recognizing a commission specifically for PWDs, outlining the rights such as, education and inclusion.
Radio Nigeria reports that, the international day of people living with disabilities (IDPD), mobilizes support for critical issues, relating to the inclusion of persons with disabilities, promoting awareness about disability issues and draws attention to the benefits of an inclusive and accessible society for all.
