BASHCMA Sensitises Bauchi Community On State’s Health Contributory Scheme

Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency, BASHCMA has sensitised Jahun community in Bauchi metropolis on the workings of the agency and how the scheme operates.

Speaking, the BASHCMA Director Marketing and Communication, Hadiatu Sulaiman said the Scheme has three different components to include formal, informal and the vulnerable sectors.

Hadiatu Sulaiman explained that the formal sector is for Civil Servants and company or private sector workers, while the informal sector cover artisans, drivers and other related categories of people.

She informed that the Vulnerable sector programme, is strictly concerned with the less privileged in the society and is being taken care of under the Federal Government’s Basic Health Care Provision Fund.

According to her, the formal sector programme’s contributions, two percent from the beneficiaries’ total salary, would be directly deducted, while an individual under the informal sector programme would pay twelve thousand naira annually.

Hadiatu Sulaiman explained that, spouses who wish to benefit under the informal sector programme, are expected to pay ten thousand naira each and if children are involved, the same amount is applied to each of them.

In the concluding part of the exercise, some community members sought for answers on gray areas of the scheme where the Agency’s Health Facilities Accreditation Officer, Nura Ibrahim provides detailed explanation.

Highlights of the sensitisation exercise were goodwill messages from the Chief Medical Director, Bauchi State Specialist Hospital, religious and traditional leaders.
