NGO Empowers Yobe Communities with Life Skills and Psychosocial Support.

A non governmental Organization Yobe Peace & Community Development Initiative, YOPCODI has empowered Bayamari and Tarbutu Communities with life skills, teaching and learning materials as well as psychosocial support to the pupils of both communities.

In a statement, the Communications Officer of the Organisation Abdurrazak Yakubu says the Program Manager YOPCODI Ali Gambo Tarbutu, stated this on the occasion of Children’s Day Celebration organised for Bayamari and Tarbutu Communities with funding from ActionAid Nigeria.

The statement says the occasion brought together all stakeholders and featured colorful activities that engaged the children in fun and joyful experiences.

The Program Manager Ali Gambo Tarbutu said “The Local Rights Programme” has been pivotal in empowering people in the most vulnerable communities in the state through a series of training sessions.

According to him YOPCODI has equipped community members with essential skills and capacities, enabling them to effectively engage with political and institutional power structures in their communities and the State.

He said as a result of the programs, the two benefitting communities have successfully advocated for their needs to the government, leading to significant achievements to include renovation of a complete block of classrooms at Tarbutu community and the posting of teachers to both Bayamari and Tarbutu communities.

The statement further notes that YOPCODI provided desks and psychosocial support materials to pupils of both communities.

According to the statement, the Head Teachers of both communities expressed appreciation to YOPCODI and Action Aid’s efforts and support.

They described the Children’s Day event as a testament to the vibrant community spirit and the positive changes brought about by the Local Rights Programme.

It highlights the importance of continued support and collaboration to further empower Bayamari and Tarbutu communities to ensure sustainable development.
