About 600 Yobe Indigents Benefit from State Government’s Free Dialysis Every Month.

About 600 indigents of Yobe State are benefiting from the state government’s free dialysis sessions every month.

The Chief Medical Director, CMD, Yobe State University Teaching Hospital Dr Baba Goni Waru, made this known to newsmen in Damaturu.

According to the Chief Medical Director, Dr Baba Goni Waru, Yobe State has a high prevalence of kidney failure, particularly in communities near the River Yobe.

He pointed out that the State Government is paying 50,000 Naira for complimentary dialysis treatments for patients with kidney diseases.

“Yobe is one of the states that has the highest cases of kidney failure in the country particularly in communities around the River Yobe, the Northern part of the state” Waru said.

The CMD also conducted members of the media team round the newly established 400-bed capacity newborn maternal and child healthcare complex to see the modern equipment in the centre by Governor Buni’s administration.

“This edifice was constructed with the view of providing and child health as well as improving the indices of child and under-five mortality “

He added that the centre is a place of providing the service delivery, training of health manpower as well as research on prevailing health challenges.
