Senator who represented Zamfara Central Senatorial district in the 7th and 8th Nigerian Senate, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, has announced the revival of Marafa faction in the Zamfara State All Progressives Congress APC.

He made this known while speaking with newsmen during a meeting with hundreds of his supporters who came all the way from Zamfara held in Kaduna.

Senator Marafa directed that, membership register of the faction should be immediately opened from ward up to state level.

According to him, the Marafa faction’s move was in protest to the recent meeting of the APC in Zamfara State under the leadership of the immediate past Governor and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, in which they excluded their group during holding meetings.

He pointed out that, they want to show that, they are the mainstream of APC in Zamfara state.

“Now that we have been excluded from the Zamfara State APC, we want to adopt ourselves.

“From today, we have instructed all our followers to re-establish our faction from polling units to the state level because that’s what the leaders of the APC want.

“There are always implications for every action, and we are quite conversant with the rules, having been on this path in the past. We know the road,”

Senator Marafa emphasized that his group is ready to re-establish their faction, starting from the grassroots.

“Since we agreed to come together, we felt there was no need for another faction,”

He noted that, “Whenever there is an APC meeting in Zamfara, two factions are recognized: Yari and Matawalle. For us, we felt after the alliance, we should not be talking about factions, since they have decided to recognize factions, they should recognise three factions.”

Senator Kabiru Marafa expressed deep concern over the insecurity in Zamfara, described it as the state’s greatest problem and a significant concern for him.

“Our people are under siege; that is the truth of the matter,” noting the alarming state of insecurity in Zamfara.

He acknowledged the federal government’s commitment to ending the insecurity in the state.

Senator Kabiru Marafa urged people of Zamfara to think deeply and choose leaders who would help them address insecurity ahead.
