Kano based Company Seeks Gov Yusuf Intervention Against intimidation by a foreign Company

A local-owned tea production Company named Al-Imam Tea Herbs Pure and Healthy Nig. Limited ,has appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to intervene in a trademark dispute with Promasidor Nigeria Limited, a foreign company.

The dispute has led to harassment, intimidation, and unlawful arrests of Al-Imam Tea’s workers.

In a letter to the Governor, General Manager Abubakar Adam Dahir explained that despite legitimate trademark registration, Promasidor Nigeria Limited has resorted to unethical tactics to maintain its market dominance.

He said the company has been borrowing money to cover legal expenses and secure the release of its employees, diverting resources from business development.

The Company urged the Governor to investigate the foreign company’s actions, protect its workers, facilitate a dialogue, and promote policies discouraging monopolistic practices.

Abubakar Adam Dahir Noted that the company employs over 500 workers and contributes to Kano State’s economic development.

He said the fate of the young company and the livelihoods of many depend on the Governor’s intervention.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by the Chief of staff Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi reiterated Government Commitment in Supporting Small and Medium Enterprenuers with the aim enhancing Economic activities in the state.

He noted that Government would look into the matter with a view to address the challenge.
