Bauchi Lawmaker Seeks Justice for a Slain Charcoal Seller.

The Senator representing Bauchi South in the Senate, Shehu Umar Buba has tasked relevant authorities to bring to book perpetrators of charcoal seller, Abubakar Yahaya in Toro local government area to serve as deterrent to others.

Senator Shehu Umar Buba who made the call when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased charcoal seller at Zaranda warned against extra judicial killing of his consituents.

“ …. this killing is unfortunate. The killing of innocent people who are going about their lawful businesses before they were attacked at Zaranda by a group of militia led by one Shayi need to investigated and anyone found wanting should be prosecuted….” Senator Shehu Umar insisted.

The Lawmaker said that he would take action to ensure that the deceased and the injured persons got justice.

The state command’s Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Ahmed Wakil said in a statement that, it gathered from the local residents that a charcoal dealer was arrested by members of a quasi security outfit; the Nigerian Hunters Forestry and Security Service and resulted in sporadic firing of gun by the hunters.

“…. this incident led to the serious injury of a 35 year old Abubakar Yahaya, a 20 year old Hussaini Yunusa and a 16 year old Yayangida Hussaini, all from Zaranda Gari village via Toro LGA…..”

” ….they were promptly taken to the Primary Health Care Center Zaranda Gari, where unfortunately, Abubakar Yahaya succumbed to his injuries….” the statement explains.

Meanwhile Senator Shehu Umar used the visit to announce the construction of three rural roads as part of his constituency projects for 2024.

The Lawmaker said he would flagg off commencement of the project in the next two weeks in Toro Local government area of the State.

“ …the projects will be flagged off in the next two weeks. I have three roads; one from Corner Ma’aji Shittu–Jaji Nabordo and another one will be from Rimi Zayam Goljudo to Alhaji DanBaba’s residence at Zaranda…..”

“… but just three days ago I heard that Bauchi State Governor has come to flag off the construction of that road of Rimi Zayam, but I still have it in my 2024 projects. No problem, if the state government said it wanted to do it, let them do it, we will redirect our own to another location within the same town….” Senator Shehu said.
