In an effort to strengthen community engagement towards ensuring good governance, Dambam local government area of Bauchi State has engaged key stakeholders for budget consultation, aimed at collating citizens’ input for inclusion into the 2025 budget process.

Our Correspondent reports that the Budget Consultation meeting was the first of its kind in the local council, as is required for attaining global best practice and a yardstick for measuring transparency towards meeting Community Chater of Demand (CCD) requirement.

The Budget Consultation exercise which was organized by the LGA’s Budget Directorate with support from the council Chairman, drew participants from Civil Society Organizations, Persons With Disability, Community, Political, Traditional and Religious leaders as well as individual members of society.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, the Chairman, Dambam Local Council, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Tela told the gathering that their input into the 2025 Budget process was imperative, noting it would go a long way in bringing about development projects that suits the needs and aspirations of the community.

He assured to improve priority sectors of primary healthcare, basic education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, WASH in the local government area.

On his part, the Director Budget of the local council, Musa Idris said providing the needed support by the Chairman was the pillar for attaining this feat, describing the exercise as a successful one.

Musa Idris who appreciated Bauchi Field Office of USAID funded State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity for the guidance and knowledge imparted him while serving under Misau, one of the four implementing LGAs in the state.

According to him, the workshops he attended and knowledge acquired during his stay in Misau LGA led to the realization of the budget consultation engagement.

Speaking on behalf of traditional leaders, the District Head of Dambam, Alhaji Idris Bappa Musa, said the engagement had made many become delighted and called for its sustenance.
