We’ve introduced welfare packages for BUK staff to cushion current economic hardship – VC

The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano professor Sagir Adamu Abbas says the University has introduced many forms of welfare to the staff with the aim of cushioning the effects of the current economic hardship people are facing in the country.
Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas Stated this during a chat with the media in his office.
He said the university has consider the current hardship staff were facing especially hike in the petroleum price, increase in the university registration fees among several economic challenges.
” we know many of our personnel have children who are currently undergoing different programs in the university, some have one , some two , while some have more than that “
” even before we arrived at the current registration fees we debated over and over , and we unanimously arrived at the current charges , which is the list when compared to other universities across the nation “
The vice chancellor noted trhat in order to alleviate the sufferings of the staff in terms of the hike in petroleum prices, we provided two luxurious buses which will be conveying our staff free from our staff quarters at zoo road to new campus , they shuttle two times daily.
“we also bought food in large quantity and give it to the university workers union for any staff who want to collect as loan and will pay within the duration of six months.
” for those who have children that are studying in the university, we have an arrangement with our micro-finance bank , where a staff will borrow the registration fees and will pay back in six months and the universal will be his collateral and will settle the interest of loan that particular person accessed “
“. For the junior staff we’ve purchased a number of brand new bicycles, which will be given to those who shows interest at the rate of fifty thousand Naira, and would be paid within nine months.”
Professor Sagir Adamu abbas Maintained that all these efforts were geared towards alleviating the economic Hardship Staff were facing in the institution.
