The Yobe State Hisbah Commission, in collaboration with the Multi Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) and Yobe PCU, had organized an interfaith dialogue, aimed at strengthening relationships between Muslim and Christian communities.
The event brought together religious leaders, women, and youth to discuss the importance of peace and reconciliation.
Executive Chairman, Yobe State Hisbah Commission, Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar represented by Mal. Mohammed Bashir Kukuri, emphasized the program as a platform for constructive dialogue, open communication, mutual respect, and understanding as vital for lasting peace and unity.


The state Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego commended Governor Buni’s commitment to promoting peace and unity in the state, calling the dialogue timely in addressing misinformation and religious misunderstandings.
Chairman of the program, Alhaji Bukar Madu Jumbam, stressed the need for peaceful coexistence and encouraged youth to be ambassadors of peace.
Co-Chairman Bishop Yohanna quoted Sir Ahmadu Bello’s call for religious harmony from a 1960s Christmas message.
Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives of the Emir of Damaturu, the Emir of Jajere, and the Governor’s Special Advisor on Security Matters, all commending the initiative.
The program featured presentations by Professor Ibrahim Mohammed, Rev. Anthony Friday Lokerenke, and Commissioner Abdullahi Bego, focusing on promoting understanding, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
