VICTIMS OF FLOOD IN YOBE TO BENEFIT FROM FG INTERVENTION

About twenty five thousand victims of last year’s flood disaster in Yobe state are to benefit from the Federal Government’s National Economic and Livelihood Emergency Intervention SNELE.

While flagging off the distribution of the support items at the Government House, Damaturu, Governor Mai Mala Buni said Yobe state was among the worst hit by last year’s flood disaster where over seventy people loss their lives.

The Special National Economic and Livelihood Emergency Intervention being implemented by the National Emergency Management Agency is designed to support the long-term recovery of Nigeria from the 2022 flood disaster and the drive for sustainable socio-economic recovery of the country.

Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni said about forty thousand households were affected with twenty seven access roads damaged by flood disaster last year.

Governor Buni who commended the federal government and other donor partners for their support to victims of disaster in the state also assured of his administration readiness to continue providing the needed leadership and support to fast-track the state recovery and development priorities.

Also, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA Mustapha Ahmed represented by Hajiya Bintu Aliyu said nine thousand people would benefit from the first phase of the intervention in Yobe state.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Yobe state Emergency Management Agency Muhammed Goje explained that the Agency has upgraded its activities to meet international humanitarian and Emergency working standards to ease difficulties being face by victims of disasters in the state.

Some of the beneficiaries Yakubu Muhammed Gulani and Halima Musa commended the federal government for the gesture and promised to make good use of the items.

Items distributed to the beneficiaries included , agriculture Inputs,food and non food items like sewing machines, Grinding Machine and mattresses among others.
