NGF Urges Nigerians to Support Security Agencies with Intelligence

By Murtala Muhammad

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdurrahman Abdulrazaq, has called on Nigerians to provide security agencies with actionable intelligence to combat the persistent insecurity across the country.

Governor Abdulrazaq made the call in Jos while leading a delegation of governors on a sympathy visit to the Governor and people of Plateau State, following the recent deadly attacks on some communities.

He was accompanied by the Governors of Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed; Benue, Reverend Hyacinth Alia; Borno, Professor Babagana Zulum; Oyo, Seyi Makinde; as well as the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, who was represented by his Deputy.

Governor Abdulrazaq emphasised that for security agencies to discharge their duties effectively, citizens must speak out and provide vital information on any perceived threat to lives and property.

The NGF Chairman described peace as the foundation of any progressive society, stressing that the absence of it in Plateau and other parts of the country was detrimental to development at all levels of government.

Responding, the Governor of Plateau State, Mr Caleb Mutfwang, noted that the state had enjoyed relative peace for over a year, but lamented that the recent attacks had set back its development strides.

He called on all residents of the state, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, to shun violence in all its forms.
