Security and Intelligence Agencies Synergies to Tackle Emerging Threats in North East Region.

The Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum has stressed the need for inter-agency collaboration among security agencies to defeat all forms of adversary threatening the North East region. 

Professor Zulum made this known at the twelfth quarterly Zonal Conference of State Directors of the Department of State Services in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. 

Governor Babagana Zulum said his administration has worked closely with security agencies to counter emergening security challenges that bedevelled the state. 

Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security Professor Usman Tar, Governor Zulum observed that actionable intelligence is critical in kinetic and non-kinetic operations.

He therefore urged the Department of State Services and other intelligence agencies to step up their intelligence capabilities.

“More species of crimes and criminality are emergening, for instance, the Marlian thugs came up while we are still dealing with Boko Haram insurgency, His Excellency request that we should put our heads together in order to confront the challenges of crime, criminality and insurgency in the region ” Zulum stressed. 

Governor Babagana Zulum called on security agencies to conduct their operations in accordance with their rules of engagements and democratic principles. 

Director Department of State Services Borno state Command Mohammed Murtala said the conference will deliberate on security situation in the region, share experiences on contemporary security threats and adopt measures to tackle them.

Chairman of the occasion and Director Bauchi State Command of the Service Hussaini Abdullahi noted that security agencies have been adopting counter measures to contain emergening security challenges in the region and the recent military coup in Niger republic. 

He assured the Service commitment towards guaranteeing security in the North East and beyond. 

In a message, Deputy Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai Major General Olatukunbo Bello assured that the Theatre will soon launch a campaign that will bring lasting peace in the region. 

Correspondent Dauda Iliya reports that the conference has in attendance,  state Directors from six states region, Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai, Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 15 and other heads of security establishment in the state.
