Bauchi Committed To Address Issues Around Family Planning Activities

Bauchi State Technical Group Committee on Family Planning assures to work with all relevant stakeholders as contained in the committee’s Terms of Reference.

State Commissioner for Health, and Chairman of the committee, Dr Adamu Sambo gave the assurance at the committee’s first inaugural meeting in Bauchi.

Dr Adamu Sambo, represented by Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ali Babayo said the committee has reviewed all the technical issues around family planning activities in the state and was committed to address them squarely.

He appreciated the interventions given to the state by the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) and assured government’s resolve to adequately provide the basic requirements needed to ensure healthy babies and mothers.

The representative of UNFPA at the meeting, Mrs Loide Amkongo assured to sustain the technical support being provided to the state in the area of family planning, to mitigate the effect of population explosion for rapid economic development.

Earlier, the Gender Desk Officer in the state ministry of health, Zuwaira Baba said the objective of the meeting was to streamline the responsibilities of the committee and develop action plan for subsequent engagements.

Also speaking, the Reginal Coordinator of Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN), Adamu Degri assured his organisation’s readiness to offer any support needed that would add value to maternal and child health in the state.
