Bauchi Governor Rewards Vigilante Group After Rescuing Kidnapped Victims

Bauchi State Government has rewarded vigilante group and volunteer security operatives at Lere District of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area who rescued twenty eight kidnapped victims.

The group during a special operation also succeeded in killing over sixty suspected criminals and recovered eight illegal guns and other dangerous weapons.

To this end the security volunteers received the donations of ten million naira and thirty motorcycles to enhance their operations towards making communities around the area safe and secured.

Appreciating the effort during a visit to the area the State Governor Bala Mohammed said government would continue to encourage communities to adopt self-defense strategy in view of incessant attacks especially in communities neighboring with other states.

According to Governor Bala Mohammed plans are under way by his administration to recruit twenty thousand youth that would support conventional security agencies in the maintenance of peace across the state.

While calling on the vigilante groups to respect the rule of engagement by avoiding extra judicial operations, Bala Mohammed ordered community leaders to monitor activities of strangers in their domain.

The State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Auwal who commended the Governor for the effort assured that the police and other security agencies would continue to guide the volunteer security operatives on the best security strategy.

The event also has in attendance the Director of State Security Service DSS, the state Brigade Commander of Nigerian Army, Representative of the State Commander of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense NSCDC and other relevant stakeholders.
