Save The Children International Makes Case For Childrens’ rights in Yobe

Save the Children International has organised a press conference for children, in an efforts to protect children’s rights in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.
The organizations’ Advocacy, Campaign and Policy Manager, Hajiya Murjanatu Kabir, explained that the program would enable the children to solve some of their challenges by themselves.
Haj. Kabir appealed to all stakeholders to pay attention and address the concerns raised by the children who spoke during the event.
She said the Girls-Led Movement Building (GLMB) was part of the commemoration of the International Day for Girl Child 2023 celebrated across the world on October 11, themed: ‘Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being’.
According to her, Save the Children International is committed towards promoting and protecting the rights of children across the globe.
In her address a member, Girls-Led Movement Building, Khadija Badama, expressed concern over the rise in cases of sexual abuse and gender-based violence.
She called on government to ensure that rights of children to education and inclusion in decision making are safe guarded.
The state Information Commissioner, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego expressed the commitment of the present administration to improve the education sector in the state.
Bego, represented by the head of Information in the ministry, Alhaji Ali Musa Yawale, said this administration had established eight senior girls day secondary schools to facilitate girls child education in the state, among other initiatives.
