BOSG call for calm amidst protest over relocation of Railway infrastructure.

The Borno State government has urge people of the state that the management of railway infrastructure is the exclusive reserve of the federal government.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar notes that regular maintenance of railway assets and platforms lies within purview of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

The statement is coming against the backdrop of recent protest by some group of youths around railway quarters of Maiduguri Metroplis over alleged relocation of railway coaches. 

It advice members of the public to be law-abiding, as the Nigeria Railway Corporation is addressing matter. 
 
“According to a Public Notice released by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, there should be no cause for alarm over this matter as some coaches are being moved to NRC Running Shed Jos, Plateau State to be overhauled with a view to putting them back to operation. NRC is trying to extend Rail Mass Transit all over the country.”_

The statement adds that the protesters are demanding the repair of the infrastructure in Maiduguri instead of relocating them to Jos.

The Commissioner call on residents to be calm, assuring that restoration of peace and security remains on course.
