BASNEC Seeks NEDC’s Support On Senior Citizens’ Data Gathering

Bauchi State Network of Civil Society Organisations (BASNEC) has solicited the support of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to establish Centre for the Elderly in Bauchi with a to view to ensure inclusion.

The Co-Chair of BASNEC Senior Citizens Forum in Bauchi state, Shu’aibu Aliyu Kobi made the appeal during a familiarisation visit to the NEDC’s Bauchi State Coordinator.

Shu’aibu Kobi said the call was imperative in view of the fact that the elderly were neglected despite their contributions for national development during their youthful and productive years.

He informed the State Coordinator of the NEDC that the forum was created recently but lack comprehensive data as to the number of its members across the state and called for intervention in that that direction.

Shu’aibu Kobi appreciated NEDC for the recent support to the CSO adding that it had positively impacted on their members.

Responding, the NEDC State Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashir assured the forum of the Commission’s readiness to offer any kind of support to people in the region as they were traumatized by activities of insurgents.

He appreciated them for the visit and assured that NEDC’s doors would always be opened for the CSOs and other relevant stakeholders.
