National Association of Women journalist (NAWOJ) Yobe state chapter have been tasked to consciously report women related issues in their repotage.

The senior programmes manager Organization for Innovation and Sustainable Development Dr. Ernest Ogezi made the call during a three days training for female journalist organized by the Organization for Innovation Development in collaboration with the Public affairs section of the U.S embassy in Damaturu, the State Capital

Dr. Ernest said conscious effort of women reporting their activities in the media, will help raise women relevance and participation in the society.

He advised female journalist to laud the achievement of women at the grass root, especially rural women making significant change in the society.

Dr Ernest Ogezi who blamed the under representation and misrepresentation of women in the media on female journalist tasked them to amplify the voice of women across all sectors through their reportage to promote equity.

Presenting a paper on Application of ICT in modern journalism Mr Leslie Jonah identify lack of access to ICT and high cost of data as constraint of ICT in modern journalism called on female journalist to always verify there sources to avoid spreading fake news.

Responding on behalf of the participants the chairperson, association of women journalist in n Yobe, hajiya Fatima Muhammad Ahamed thanked the organizers of the events and the NAWOJ national body for the opportunity.

Fatima Muhammad said the training has created avenue for sharing ideas and experience,discussed challenges women face in the media and the way forward.

She called on Yobe NAWOJ to change the narrative and advocate for more women in managerial and editorial positions so as to participate in desition making to ensure gender equity.
