Organised Labour embark on strike action amidst low compliance in Borno.

In Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, there was partial compliance to the nationwide strike action directed by the leadership of the organised labour. 

A visit to some government institutions before noon shows normal activities going on while civil servants at the Musa Usman secretariat were at their duty post as at the time of the visit. 

Public schools are also on session when Radio Nigeria visited Jajeri and Federal Low cost Secondary and Primary schools. 

However, the state administrative council of the organised labour in the state convened an emergency State Executive Council meeting where the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress directed all their affliated to comply.

The directive was contained in a statement jointly signed by NLC Chairman comrade Yusuf Inuwa and his TUC counterpart comrade Babayo Hamman.

“Sequel to the joint decision of the National Executive Council meeting of Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress held on 7th November, 2023 declaring a national industrial action with effect from Tuesday 14th November, 2023” the statement said.

Similarly, the NLC chairman, comrade Yusuf Inuwa in an interview with Radio Nigeria said the strike action will be fully enforced as from tomorrow Wednesday, 15 November. 

He enjoined workers to remain at home pending further directives from the National headquarters.
