Theatre Command organises training for Journalists on national interest.

The Theatre Commander Joint Taskforce Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Gold Chibuisi has described the media as veritable partner in post conflict recovery effort in the North East. 

Major General Chibuisi stated this at a one-day workshop for the military and journalists covering the Theatre at NUJ Press Centre in Maiduguri. 

He explained that the current kinetic and non-kinetic operations by the military have contributed to improved security in the region thereby witnessing mass surrender of insurgents. 

The Theatre Commander promised to sustain the operation until peace is restored to the North East.

“the Operation remains resolved to sustaining kinetic and non-kinetic efforts to engender more surrenders while decimating recalcitrant terrorists. I therefore see the media as veritable platforms in this noble endeavour ” Chibuisi said. 

General Chibuisi expressed confidence that the workshop will strengthen the already existing relationship between public relations officers under the Theatre and journalists and equally provide platform for exchange of ideas, experiences and insights to ensure dissemination of information in a responsible manner. 

The Lead consultant, Professor Nuhu Gapsiso said the aim of the workshop is to foster better understanding, collaboration and synergy between the military and the media towards advancing national interest.

“We believe that the time has come for the military and the media to forge stronger bonds, enhance mutual understanding and establish an effective communication framework. By doing so, we can bridge the gap between perception and reality, eradicate any misconceptions and work together in the pursuit of our collective national interest” Gapsiso stressed. 

The workshop with the theme “Military Combat, Media and National Interest had resource persons drawn from the military and the academia was organised by Borno Coalation for Democracy and Development BOCODEP with support of Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai. 

A total of forty participants, thirty journalists and ten public relations officers attended the training.
