CITAD organizes event to mark international day of persons with disabilities.

Participants of an event, to mark the international day of persons with disabilities, organized by the center of information technology and development (CITAD), have called on Kano state government, to establish disability commission.
Speaking to Radio Nigeria,the former senior special adviser (SSA),to former Kano state governor on disable, Alhaji Tasi’u Shehu Garko pointed out that,the commission would cater for the needs and aspirations of PWDs.
He stressed that,free education,effective health care delivery, employment opportunities and appointing PWDs, to manage the affairs of the commission would go a long way in yielding positive results.
Others who spoke includes, the secretary National Association of the Blind, Kano State Chapter,Malam Abdulrazak Ado Zango, and the chairman national association of person’s with physical disability, Yahaya A.Yahaya, where they emphasized on the need for inclusiveness, and equal right rights for PWDs in the state.
They appealed to government, and relevant stakeholders to improve the welfare of people with special needs, through policies and programs.
In his remarks,the executive director CITAD,Engineer Yunusa Zakari Ya’u highlighted that,the center has joined the international communities, to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilizing, support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
Represented by the center’s human resource officer, Ibrahim Nuhu, he said, the event focused attention on the role of PWDs towards accountability and anti-Corruption, Technology and PWDs Inclusion, Exchange of Ideas and Knowledge around Assistive Technology.
The event was marked by paper presentations, and witnessed large turn out of students from faculty of special education,Bayero university Kano, representatives from special education school Tudun Maliki Kano, PWDS from the six clusters, government officials, journalists and relevant stakeholders.
