The Association of Retired Police Officers Kaduna State Chapter has planned a peaceful protest at the National Assembly in respect of their two bills which are yet to be signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The bill to exit the Nigeria Police from the Contributory Pension Scheme and also the bill for the establishment of the Nigeria Police Pension Board.

Following their resolutions after their meeting held in Kaduna on 2/12/2023, the Association of Retired Police Officers Kaduna State Chapter, resolved to participate in a peaceful protest at the National Assembly to show their grievances to the government particularly Mr. President for not signing the two important bills.

According to them, those two bills if signed in to law would positively change their lives of their members who served the country with passion, commitment and dedication.

The Chairman of the association, Ret.CSP Mannir Mohammed Lawal Zaria said already letters for protest have been despatched since on 19/11/2023 by Ret. W/DSP Esther Markus to the Inspector General of Police, Minister of FCT, Senate President, Speaker House of Representatives and Chairman Police Service Committee in respect of their plan to embark on a peaceful protest.

He explained that the association gave Mr. President up to 25th November, 2023 to sign the two bills, as the bills were not signed, they have no option than to embark a peaceful protest.

” Therefore if by 25/11/2023 the President didn’t sign the bills, the tendency of our members coming out immediately begins as we are approaching Xmass and New Year breaks. He said.

” The Protest might be in November or early December. In view of the above, every member should be fully prepared because the only reason to suspend the protest is if the President sign those bills”.

“As the dateline of 25/11/23 had passed without the President signing the two Police bills into law, coupled with the hardship experience by the retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme, the association decided to go on a peaceful protest’.
