SOKOTO TAKES STEP TO CURTAILS TRANSBOUNDARY ANIMAL DISEASE

Sokoto State government says it has taken proactive measure towards mitigating transboundary Animal diseases in the state

State Deputy governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir stated that at the
flagg off of Transboundary Animal Diseases vaccination held at the Main central Eid ground, Sokoto.

The Deputy governor who stood in for the governor said the measure was due to the threat posed to the livestock and human health in the state.

According to him,the state government has procured and allocated substantial number of assorted vaccine doses for animals vaccination programme across the state.

Alhaji Idris Gobir said the measure underscored the state government dedication towards ensuring the health and well-being of livestock in the state.

He also announced that government is committed to upgrading the state Veterinary clinic to a specialist hospital.

Alhaji Idris Gobir said about one hundred and forty four Veterinary Doctors are in the state civil service adding that their competencies and energies can be utilise to drive development initiative.

Earlier,the state commissioner for Animal Health and Fisheries Development Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar Tureta said government has procured adequate vaccination to cover all the 23 local government areas in the state.

In a vote of thanks,the permanent secretary of the ministry Alhaji Muslimu Adamu Gobir acknowledged government’s decision to reviving the vaccination exercise.
