President Tinubu, who was represented at the occasion by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmed, further stated that the scheme aims to alleviate personal and professional burdens, enabling staff to focus on delivering quality education, research, and community service.

The President also added that arrangements have been concluded with the Bank of Industry to provide loans to all eligible staff of tertiary institutions across the country with zero interest.

President Tinubu congratulated all graduating students on reaching this defining moment in their academic journey and commended the governing council and management of the University for the achievements recorded.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State noted that the institution, over the years, has been deeply involved in research and extension services in all areas of human endeavor. He stated that the University’s groundbreaking research, especially in the fields of agricultural technology, medicine, engineering, and humanities, has contributed immensely to the human capital development of both the state and the nation as a whole.

On his part, the Chancellor of the University and Emir of Lafiya, Retired Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, appealed to the federal government to sustain its support to the University as one of the pillars for the development of the country.

Meanwhile, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Adam Dan Gwani, announced that the institution is graduating twenty thousand, one hundred and sixty students across its two colleges and seventeen faculties. This number, according to him, reflects not only the academic strength of the institution but also the resilience and determination of the students. He lauded the management and Senate of the institution for upholding standards and nurturing excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Laminu Mele, announced the conferment of honorary doctorates on three eminent personalities: Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum, the Emir of Kazaure in Jigawa State Alhaji Najib Adamu, and Chief Emeka Ofor. The Vice-Chancellor also announced the conferment of Emeritus status on three towering academics: Professor Bukar Bababe, Professor Umara Bulakarema, and Professor Haruna Dlakwa, for devoting over forty years to teaching, research, mentorship, and institutional development.
