YOHFIMA In Collaboration With Other NGOs Organizes Sensitization Meeting.

Yobe State Healthcare and Health Related facility inspection and monitoring agency (YOHFIMA) has Organized a one day meeting to enlighten Health providers on the regulation of healthcare services and facilities.

The Agency which came into existence Six months ago has been working in collaboration with Lafiya UK Support for Health in Nigeria and Save One Million Lives Initiative.

In his address, the executive secretary, Yobe State healthcare and Health Related Facility Inspection and Monitoring Agency (YOHFIMA), Dr. Yusuf Bukar Ngamdu, said the agency was established by the present administration and mandated with the responsibility of monitoring all public and private health facilities, including the activities of traditional medicine vendors across the State.

Dr Ngamdu who commended Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni and Yobe State House of Assembly for passing and assenting to the bill that established the Agency, underscores some Non Governmental Organizations like UNICEF, WHO, Heron Consortium, Save The Children, Action Against Hunger and Plan International.

He explained that the agency is the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria and second in the country after Lagos State, and some responsibilities of the agency include; Eliminating Quackery, Ensuring Quality and Standard Health Services Delivery, Registration and Monitoring of all Public and Private Health Facilities across the State.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana who congratulated the State for been at the fore front in terms of universal health coverage in the country, emphasized on the need to collaborate with traditional and religious leaders for better results.

The Emir of Fika and Chairman Yobe State Council of Traditional Chiefs Alh. Dr Mohammad Idrisa Ibn Abali Mohammad represented by Alh Adamu Ba’abba, applauded the efforts of Governor Mai Mala Buni for establishing agencies like YODMA, YOCHMA, YOHFIMA and other similar Health related agencies for a better service delivery.

In their separate remarks, the chairman Yobe State House Committee on Health Alh Kachallah Ajia Maina, and Chairman House Committee on Health Agencies Sanda Kara-bade and the special Assistant to the governor on health, Musa Dancho Tela, advised the ES YOHFIMA and his team to keep up to their duties and responsibilities, collaborate with developmental partners, traditional and religious leaders to achieve a better result.

The occasion which took place at the banquet hall of the National Open University of Nigeria Damaturu, the State Capital, was attended by government dignitaries, Health Services Providers, Representatives of NGOs, Security Agencies, Traditional and Religious Leaders and Members Of the Press.
