2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Gov Bala Advises Police, others to Introduces Better Scheme for Retired Officers

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has advised Nigerian Police Force and other Security Agencies to emulate the initiative of Nigerian Legion to cater the needs of officers who retired in their service.

He gave the advice at the official lunch of 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Emblem Appeal Fund at Government House Bauchi.

Bala Mohammed explained that if introduced and properly managed, the initiative would guarantee the future of the retired officers and their families.

While acknowledging the contributions of the fallen heros in safeguarding territorial integrity of the nation, Governor Bala Mohammed stressed the need for the society to reciprocate such sacrifices in a manner that would encourage the serving security officers.

He therefore announced the donation of about eleven million naira on behalf of himself, top government officials including leadership and members of state assembly and asked Corporate and Private Organization as well as well meaning individuals to follow the suit.

He also ordered for immediate inclusion of the legionnaires in all the state government’s empowerment programmes.

Earlier, the State Chairman, Nigerian Legion Retired Warrant Officer Idris Danjuma who appreciated the support of the state government, assured their readiness to accept any call for the purpose of contributing their quoter in restrengthening the security of the state.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an annual event being observed on 15th January to appreciated the sacrifices of the fallen heros.
