Remembrance Emblem Launch: Adamawa Govt Pledges Support for Ex-Servicemen, Families

Adamawa State Government says it is committed to supporting initiatives that promote the welfare of ex-servicemen and the families they left behind.

Governor Umaru Fintri stated this at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal Launch held at the Government House Council Chamber, Yola.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, Governor Fintri noted that his government will continue to collaborate with the Nigerian Legion and relevant stakeholders to ensure that those who served the nation with honour are not forgotten.

According to him, the annual event provides an opportunity not only to honour the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in defence of Nigeria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also to appreciate the serving officers and veterans who continue to bear the physical and emotional scars of war and peacekeeping operations.

He however said the Emblem Appeal is more than a ceremonial activity, but a call to duty for all government, private sector, corporate organizations, and well-meaning individuals to contribute generously towards the welfare of veterans, widows, orphans and dependants of the fallen heroes, stressing that their support can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

The Governor who reaffirmed unwavering support for the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all security agencies working tirelessly to keep the nation Safe, prayed the souls of the fallen heroes rest in perfect peace and that God may God continue to grant strength, protection and success to the Serving personnel.

Umaru Fintri also urged all citizens of Adamawa State to wear the Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem with pride and to contribute generously to the noble cause.

Also Speaking, the Head of Service Adamawa State, Pharmacist Shehu Isa Ardo said the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day is to Honour the sacrifice of the fallen heroes for their sacrifices.

The Chairman Nigerian Legion Adamawa State Chapter, Master Warrant Officer Ali Mohamed retired saluted the gallantry, courage and sacrifices of men and women of the Armed Forces as they struggle with diverse and contemporary security challenges plaguing the country.

He also appealed to the citizens of Adamawa State to donate generously to the course of the Nigeria Legion and Families of the fallen Heroes.

Highlight of the 2026 Emblem Appeal fund was donation by groups and individuals including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and other top government officials.
