Bauchi host 2024 NAG National Conference centred on the problems facing the Nation.

Members of the Nigeria Association of Geodesy (NAG) have converged on Bauchi for a 3-day National Conference centred on the problems bedeviling the nation.

The 2024 Scientific Conference and General Assembly is expected to proffer solutions to the challenges facing agriculture, security, economy among others as well as make recommendations to government for implementation.

Geodesy is the science of accurately measuring and understanding the Earth’s geometric shape, orientation in space, and gravity field.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, the President of the Association Professor Timothy Idowo said inadequate funding is the major problem in the Geodesy sector and called on government to invest more resources for effective service delivery.

Professor Timothy Idowo said recommendations to be made st the conference would no doubt help the government to make the nation’s economy viable as well as tackle the insecurity challenges facing the country.

The Chairman of the occasion and Emir of Bauchi Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu represented by Galadiman Bauchi Surveyor Saidu Jahun enjoined members of the professional body to embrace the use of modern technology to ease their work and fish out quacks among them.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU Bauchi Professor Muhammad Ahmad Abdul’azeez represented by Professor Yusuf Muhammad appreciated the organisers for choosing the institution as host for this years conference and prayed for success of the event.
