Yobe State House of Assembly has amended the Law that establishes HISBA Commission to separate the functions of the office of its Executive Chairman and the State Commandant of the Commission.

The House amended the Law, after adopting the report of its standing committee on Justice and Religious affairs on the amended Bill.

Shading more light, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Yakubu Suleiman, said the amended Law has made provisions for the office of the state Commandant of HISBA Commission and its functions.

Hon Suleiman explained that under the new provisions, the state HISBA Commandant shall work under the directives of the Executive Chairman in overseeing the activities of HISBA Corps.

The Chairman of the committee who spoke extensively on the importance of the amendment said it will assist the Commission in discharging its duties effectively.

The State House of Assembly also received names of four nominees for confirmation as Executive Chairman and Permanent members of the HISBA Commission.

The nominees are Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar as executive chairman, Sheikh Mohammed Mahdi, Dr. Alkasim A Damagum, and Mallam Lawan Abba Shettima as permanent members of the Commission.

Presiding over the sitting the speaker of the House Rt Hon, Chiroma Buba Mashio committed the names of the nominees to the House Committee on Justice and Religious Affairs for screening.
