Gombe govt tasks journalist to change narrative of the state on Maternal and Child Health issues

Gombe state Government has charged journalist as critical agents of change to rewrite the narrative of the state on Reproductive Maternal and Child Health issues, from the grassroots.

The Executive Secretary Gombe state Health Care Development Agency, Dr Shuaibu Abdulrahman made the call at the end of a 3day training for Journalist on Reproductive health held at the Laila hall, in Gombe.

Dr Shuaibu Abdulrahman who was represented by Aisha Isa Umar of the sate Health Care Development Agency, said, the state ranks amongst the highest in the country on Maternal and Child mortality rates, and with the recent training, they hope to see a change especially at the grassroots by the end of 2024.

Hajia Aisha Isa Umar, commended the participants for good conduct and the Organisers for choosing Gombe state as one of the pilot states for the ” Together for Healthy Families in Nigeria” project.

Speaking on behave of the participants, Williams Atta, of the National Independent newspaper
assured the Organisers of putting the knowledge acquired into practice to make maternal and child health issues a concern for the government and people of Gombe state.

The 3-day training which started on Monday July 1st was organised by Rotary Group for 20 selected journalist from different media outlets in Gombe state, was aimed to equip the beneficiaries with skills for effective reporting on Reproductive Maternal and Child Health issues.
