Over Nine Million Poor, Vulnerable Nigerians Benefit From NG-CARES 645 Million Dollars Programme

The Nigerian Community for Resilience and Economic Stimulus NG-CARES programme says it has expended six hundred and fourty five million Dollars to improve the lives of over nine million poor and vulnerable Nigerians.

The expenditure covering the period between 2021 to date is part of seven hundred and fifty million dollars allocated for the entire programme.

The National Coordinator of the Programme Dr Abdulkarim Obaje stated this at the peer learning and experience sharing event in Bauchi.

The Peer learning and experience sharing event for thirteen states from the northeast, north central and South is aimed at improving on lapses before the programme close out.

Dr. Abdulkarim Obaje said the objectives of the scheme is to improve social safety net, livelihood grant and basic services support to poor and vulnerable communities.

He noted that the state’s performance after the programme close out would be the yardstick for the project renewal, hence the need for them to pay more attention during the event.

Declaring the event open, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State expressed worry over the state’s poor performance on the score cards presented at the event.

Bala Mohammed represented by the Commissioner of Agriculture Professor Simon Madugu Yelam assured of better performance by the state in the next round of the project.

The event feature exhibition of hand made goods by the project beneficiaries and symbolic presentation of cheques to vulnerable families.
