The 2024 Local Government Enrolment Drive Campaign EDC Technical Committees have been advised to make comprehensive reports of challenges in the basic education sub sector at local levels for necessary action.

This is will enable the relevant government agencies make adequate planning and inclusion in their annual action plans.

A Member of the State EDC Committee Madam Dinah Istifanus gave the advice at the inauguration of Warji LGA EDC Technical Committee for the 2024/2025 exercise held at the council’s Secretariat.

Madam Dinah Istifanus who is also the Executive Director of FAWOYDI, a Bauchi-based CSO said government businesses especially in the education sector are not done based on speculations, hence the need for them to forward reports of areas in need of intervention with substantial evidence for appropriate action.

She said interventions such as the UBEC/SUBEB annual action plan and the World Bank assisted BESDA project have provisions for construction and rehabilitation of schools infrastructure, conditional cash transfer and teacher development, which should be leveraged on.

On the committee’s responsibilities, the State EDC Committee member urged them to look for ways of sourcing funds for the activity, and establish same structure at various communities for the success of the enrolment drive campaign.

Warji Council to Recruit Teachers…..

Meanwhile, Warji Local government area of Bauchi State has expressed determination to recruit temporary teaching staff towards addressing the problem of inadequate teachers in schools across the area.

The Chairman of the council Alhaji Aminu Barmini stated this at the inauguration of the EDC technical Committee for the implementation of the 2024/25 campaign organised by SUBEB in collaboration with UNICEF Bauchi Field Office at Katanga Warji.

Aminu Barmini represented by the Deputy Chairman Habibu Tiyin said teacher/pupil ratio in the area is wide, hence the resolve of the council to engage additional hands to uplift the standard of education and salvage the lives of future generations.

While restating the councils support towards the successful implementation of the campaign, the Chairman promised to ensure that such is replicated in every nook and cranny of the area.

Earlier, the Education Secretary Warji Local Education Authority Malam Musa Barde who promised that the number of Out of School Children in the area would reduce significantly through sustained campaign with stakeholders, noted that staff under him are up and doing to ensure better education delivery.

In a remark, the District Head of Warji Ibrahim Sama’ila represented by Malam Faisal expressed readiness to mobilise all village and hamlet heads under his domain for the sensitisation and enrolment drive to all nooks and crannies of the area.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Warji LGA Reverend Ishaku Dano represented by Adamu Hassan and representative of Chief Imam Warji Mika’il Dahiru Burra underscored the need for authorities concerned to ensure adequate monitoring of teaching and learning in schools, promised continued support for the advancement of education in the area.

Speaking on behalf of Councillors, Yahaya Abdu appealed to parents, guardians and other stakeholders to support the EDC committee in its effort to reverse the negative indices of OoSC and dropouts.
