NEDC Donates Food, Non-Food Items to Victims of Insurgents attack, flood disasters in Yobe State.

The North East Development Commission, NEDC, has distributed food and non-food items to the Victims of the Mafa Community Insurgents attack and flood disaster in Yobe State.

Commencing the onward distribution of the items in Damaturu, the state capital, the Managing Director/CEO of the Commission Mohammed Goni Alkali who was represented at the event by the Yobe State Coordinator NEDC Prof.Ali Ibrahim Abbas said the commission has decided to take immediate action shortly after an inspection visit to the areas affected by the disasters and assess the level of damages.

Professor Abbas pointed out that the Managing Director gave an instructions that the communities directly affected, such as Mafa, Jumbam, and Kaliyare Communities under Tarmuwa Local Government, Wagir in Gujba LGA, Nangere in Nangere LG, as well as Nguru community under Nguru LGA, should be given more priority during the distribution.

He further states that the items would be handed to the stakeholders of each of the communities for easy identification of people affected.

Responding, on behalf of the stakeholders, a stakeholder from Tarmuwa Local Government Area, Alhaji Mala Musti, thanked the NEDC for the intervention, saying that it was at a needed time.

He further assured the Commission that the items provided will be used according to specific purpose.

The items made available include Rice, Macaroni/Supergeti, Blanket, Nylon mats, Shadda for Men, Women wrappers and Children’s wears.
