The Theatre Commander Joint Task Force Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Gold Chubuisi says Media has constitutes the substantial part of the non kinetic approach of the ongoing Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism Operations.
The Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai stated this when he hosted the Defence Correspondents to a Media Parley at the headquarters Military Command and Control Center Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.
Major General Gold Chubuisi attributed the successes recorded against terrorism in the Northeast Theatre of Operations to the non kinetic method resulting in the surrender of over one hundred thousand Insurgents and their families and greater understanding between the Military host Communities, saying kinetic approach was just about twenty (20) percent in an asymmetric warfare.
He stressed the need to improved the synergy between the Military and Media in order to achieve the feat together, and explained that the Parley is to showcase the jointness and collaboration among the Military, Critical Stakeholders and the Media in regards their operational activities.
The Theatre Commander reiterated the Nigerian Military’s resolved to conclude the conflict in this dispensation and therefore appealed to the Journalists to ensure concise, verified, and balanced reportage.
Speaking on behalf of the Defence Correspondents and all the working Journalists in the State, Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Borno Council, Comrade Dauda Iliya commended the Theatre Commander for the feat in the War against terrorism in the region and assured that NUJ shall continued to support the Military to the logical conclusion of fight against insurgency.
Comrade Dauda Iliya narrated that Journalists have since the inception of the Theatre been with the Military when the then Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai launched Operation Zaman lafiya at Konduga in 2015, which metamorphosed to Lafiya Dole and Operation Hadin Kai.
He explained that Defence Correspondents have not minded the risks involved traversed almost all the front line in the Northeast region with the Military heads to give factual and accurate accounts of gallantry and sacrifices of the Officers and Soldiers of the Theatre.
The NUJ Chairman who is national Correspondent FRCN Borno State invited the Theatre Commander to also visit NUJ Press Center to enable him chat with all the working Journalists in the State.
